How to choose the Powerball Power Play?
The Power Play number is selected entirely at random, by a ball being drawn out of a separate drum after the main numbers and Powerball numbers are drawn. All players can do, is to choose whether they want to add the Powerball Power Play to their ticket during the purchase (for a small additional fee). When the jackpot remains under USD 150 Million, 43 balls are inserted in the drum and Power Plays x2, x3, x4, x5 and x10 are available. However, when the jackpot exceeds USD 150 Million, only 42 balls are inserted in the drum and Power Plays x2, x3, x4 and x5 are available. Check out the Powerball odds in the next section.
What are the odds of each Power Play being drawn?
The Powerball Power Play does not influence the odds of winning the Jackpot nor any of the Powerball Prizes actually, but it does influence the payouts players can scoop when you become a Powerball winner of any of the secondary prizes. See how in the sections above.
The Power Play draw is made from a separate drum containing 42 or 43 balls depending on the value of the jackpot at the moment of the draw.
When the value of the jackpot does not exceed USD 150 Million, the Power Play x10 is added to the game. So the multiplier can be x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10. Here are the odds of each being fired:

Power Play x4 | 3 | 1/14.3 |
Power Play x5 | 2 | 1/21.5 |
Power Play x10 | 1 | 1/43 |

When the jackpot reaches and exceeds USD 150 Million, the Power Play x10 is taken out of the drum. Here are the probabilities of each of the Powerball Power Play to come out:
